Statewide Smoking Ban Update

I just received information about the effort to introduce a statewide smoke free air bill for Indiana. I will be receiving more information tomorrow afternoon, but wanted to share what I have learned so far.
Representative Eric Turner has submitted a smoke free air bill, and so far Reps C. Brown, T. Brown and P Welch will co-sponsor. More co-sponsors are being sought. I will send out a copy of the bill as soon as I have it. From what I have read, it appears that initially the exemptions are some gaming facilities, hookah and cigar bars, and retail tobacco stores.
Reps E. turner and C. Brown held a news conference yesterday at 11:30 am to announce moving forward with passing a smoke free bill prior to the Super Bowl. (February 5th) This bill has been designated to have “emergency status.”
In addition, the smoke free air bill is scheduled to be heard at 10:30am, Monday, January 9th in the House Public Health Committee, House Chambers.
I will provide updates as soon as I can. If you have any questions, you are more than welcome to contact us.
